People in Need in collaboration with the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU, the Czech Centre in Brussels, the European Parliament, the Italian Culture Institute and the Goethe-Institut invites you to the screening of DEMOCRACY im Rausch der Daten / David Bernet / Germany / 2015 / 100 min.
What has Brussels come up with now? A question often read in the news or heard on TV. Director David Bernet decided to find an answer. For 2 years he tracked Jan Philipp Albrecht, German politician and the European Parliament’s lead negotiator for the European Union’s data protection regulation, in his efforts to draft the new EU legislation on data protection. What he saw was an unbelievably stressful, both inspiringand frustrating, cycle of meetings, discussions and sessions with MEPs and various groups of lobbyists and activists. The result is a unique film from behind the scenes of Brussels politics.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with David Bernet, the director of the film, Jan Philipp Albrecht, MEP and the protagonist of the film, and other guests. Moderated by Cristina Nord, Goethe-Institut.
The screening is free of charge. However, tickets must be registered in advance at www.oneworld.cz/brussels.
